Albert Adomah closing in on new Villa contract

According to the Sunday People, cited by HITC, Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah is edging closer to agreeing a new contract.

Before Dean Smith arrived at Villa Park, numerous reports suggested that the wide man was open to a move away from the club in the New Year, with Championship rivals Leeds and former club Middlesbrough interested in the Ghanaian.

However, the 30-year-old has been a regular under Smith and looks set to stay with the Villans, with the club preparing a new deal for the experienced midfielder.

Since joining Villa from Middlesbrough in 2016, Adomah has already made 100 appearances and played a key role in the side that agonisingly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season under Steve Bruce.

And with a busy festive period coming up, Smith will be hoping to have Adomah fully fit again, after the winger suffered a slight ankle injury in the derby win over Birmingham City last weekend.
