- Villa face stiff competition from Europe
Aston Villa have registered an interest in Club Brugge striker Nicolò Tresoldi. Unai Emery is determined to capitalise on his team’s upward European trajectory by infusing the frontline with elite young talent. The 21-year-old German youth international has emerged as a prominent target following a spectacular breakthrough campaign in Belgium.
Tresoldi has enjoyed a sensational season, spearheading Club Brugge to their 20th Belgian league title. Since his move from Hannover 96, the young striker has developed into one of Europe’s most efficient marksmen. He scored 23 goals across all competitions, including eye-catching performances in the Champions League.
According to The Athletic, Tresoldi is a data-driven favourite. He netted 19 league goals from an expected goals (xG) metric of just 16.3, proving his elite finishing capability under pressure.
Beyond his sharp instincts in the penalty box, the forward is widely recognised as one of the quickest players in the Belgian top flight, matching the exact physical and tactical profile Emery demands.
International recognition and interest elsewhere
His domestic form nearly earned him an international call-up. Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann publicly revealed that Tresoldi very nearly gatecrashed the national World Cup squad, praising the youngster’s “special nose for goal.”
While he currently represents Germany at U-21s level, his dual heritage means Italy and Spain are also monitoring his international availability.
Unsurprisingly, Villa Park is not the only destination being touted for the highly-rated attacker. The Athletic reports that Borussia Dortmund and Atlético Madrid are long-term admirers of the striker.
Dortmund views him as a crucial piece to bolster their frontline, meaning Villa must act swiftly to win the race for his signature.
Furthermore, the player’s long-term contract places Club Brugge in a strong position, meaning a cheap acquisition is unlikely.

Securing Tresoldi would be a major coup for Villa. Adding his clinical finishing and blistering pace gives Emery a dynamic tactical weapon for balancing the Premier League and another European campaign.
Whilst the transfer race involves heavy competition from Europe, Villa’s rising status makes them an incredibly attractive destination.
However, the financial restrictions imposed on the Villans mean a deal will be difficult. They will have to be creative to produce a package that will satisfy Club Brugge without making too much of a dent in their budget.
Overall, bringing the lethal young German international to Villa Park would perfectly signal the club’s ambition to establish themselves permanently among Europe’s elite.
