Villa ready to spend £20m on Zimbabwe’s Marvelous Nakamba

Boss Dean Smith looks to be keen on bolstering his options in the middle of the park this summer after recently releasing the experienced Glenn Whelan and Mile Jedinak.

Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips has been heavily linked with a £14m move to the Midlands, however, the Whites star appears to be content in Yorkshire.

The powerful 25-year-old now appears to be Villa’s next midfield target, with the club keeping a close eye on Nakamba’s performances for his country at the Africa Cup of Nations over the coming weeks.

Villa look set to face fierce competition from Newcastle, Watford and Serie A side Atalanta for Nakamba’s services, however, securing a deal for the highly-rated midfielder could go a long way in Villa’s attempts for Premier League survival next season.
