Bristol City defender Joe Bryan is set to undergo a medical with Aston Villa after the Midlands side fought off competition from Middlesbrough to secure his signature, Football Insider reports.
Villa and Middlesbrough had both agreed a £6million fee with Bristol City on Monday for the left-back, but it is reported that Bryan has opted for a move to Villa over the North East.
The move could be concluded within the next 24 hours, with Bryan now deep in talks with the club and set to undergo a medical at Villa Park.
Bryan would be Steve Bruce’s third signing this window.

The 24-year-old has just one year left on his contract with Bristol City and has attracted a lot of interest from Championship clubs this summer.
Derby County were another club that had been chasing Bryan’s signature and had previously had a bid of £3million for Bryan rejected.
Despite Bristol being reluctant to sell their star player, it now appears that the 24-year-old will secure a move away from Ashton Gate before tomorrow’s deadline.
