Brighton and Stoke eye James Chester

Aston Villa centre-back James Chester is a man in demand this summer.

According to claims from the Birmingham Mail, the defender could be on his way out of Villa Park, with interest in his services building ahead of next season.

Chester is likely to be one of several first-team players to be moved on this summer as Villa look to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations following their failure to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Chester, who has Premier League experience following his tenure at Hull, is believed to be a target for Brighton and Hove Albion as they continue to strengthen ahead of their second season in the top-flight.

Meanwhile, Stoke City are also said to be keeping tabs on the Welshman, with Gary Rowett keen to lead the Potters back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Birmingham Mail’s report hails Chester as one of Villa’s most ‘saleable assets’, indicating that the chances of a summer transfer are high.
