The defender became a free agent having left Rotherham United at the end of the 2016/17 season and it looks like he’s training with the Villa side.
Kelly played under Steve Bruce at Birmingham City and it could well be that his former boss is simply allowing him to join in training in order for him to keep up his fitness.
However, as we saw with Christopher Samba, Bruce has been willing to hand contracts to free agents if they impress him so Kelly could well be playing for a short-term contract.
The former Republic of Ireland international played 20 times in the Championship for Rotherham last season.
