Aston Villa are continuing to monitor Real Betis winger Ez Abde as Unai Emery searches for another left-sided attacker following Morgan Rogers’ departure.
Newcastle United are also following the Morocco international, who enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign in Spain.
Sport Witness reports that Villa and Newcastle watched Abde closely last season. Villa previously approached the winger, but no formal bid or direct talks with Betis have been reported.
Real Betis are pointing interested clubs towards the €60million release clause in Abde’s contract. The 24-year-old has also spent recent months learning English as speculation over a Premier League move continues.

Abde scored 15 goals and provided 13 assists across 43 appearances last season. He primarily operates from the left, where his pace and direct dribbling allow him to attack defenders in one-on-one situations.
Those qualities fit Emery’s desire to sign a winger capable of making runs beyond opposition defences.
Villa have already submitted an official bid to sign Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho, with an initial loan and purchase clause under discussion. Abde could emerge as an alternative if Chelsea negotiations fail or Villa decide to add two attackers.
The Moroccan recently returned to Betis training after a knee injury kept him out of the World Cup. Manuel Pellegrini still regards him as an important player, placing the Spanish club in a strong negotiating position.
Villa have the funds to consider a major offer after selling Rogers to Chelsea for £117million. However, paying the full €60million clause would represent another significant investment during an already busy rebuild.
Their interest remains active, but Newcastle’s presence creates competition if Villa decide to move beyond monitoring.
