- Aston Villa are reportedly in discussions with Ibrahim Mbaye and his representatives over a summer move
- Reports suggest the transfer fee is around €40 million (£34.6 million)
- PSG’s stance is unclear on a departure, however, Mbaye is open to leaving
Aston Villa are actively accelerating their pursuit of PSG’s highly-rated winger Ibrahim Mbaye. Discussions with his representatives are underway, with a reported fee of €40 million (£34.6 million).
Mbaye has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in European football. Emerging from PSG’s youth academy, he made history by breaking Warren Zaïre-Emery’s record to become the club’s youngest-ever starting player.
The versatile attacker, who can effortlessly deploy on either wing, has made 24 appearances in Ligue 1 under Luis Enrique this season.
Furthermore, throughout the campaign, he chipped in with three goals and two assists, demonstrating a level of tactical maturity and technical refinement well beyond his teenage years.
Despite his undeniable potential, Mbaye has struggled to secure guaranteed minutes in Paris. Stuck in a star-studded pecking order behind established talents like Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, he has mainly been utilised as a rotation option, starting just ten league games this season.
Confidence on the Villa side
Top Mercato has indicated that, whilst no agreement has been reached between the clubs, there is confidence, on the Villa side, that a “positive outcome” is possible around the €40 million (£34.6 million) mark.
Discussions are underway with his representatives; however, PSG’s current position has not yet been revealed.
The Senegalese international is prioritising a move to a club that offers a clear pathway to becoming a regular starter. Undeniably, this is where Villa fits perfectly, given the added bonus of Champions League football.

Ultimately, securing Mbaye would represent a massive statement of intent for Villa’s long-term project under Unai Emery.
The 18-year-old’s record-breaking breakthrough at PSG proves he possesses the elite raw talent needed to thrive at the highest level. While Luis Enrique limited his starting opportunities, Villa Park offers the perfect stage for his development.
Crucially, Emery can offer Mbaye the direct pathway to regular first-team football he craves, sweetened by the allure of the Champions League.
While PSG’s final stance on their academy graduate remains unclear, the growing confidence within the Villa camp suggests a breakthrough is achievable.
Meeting the €40 million (£34.6 million) valuation would be a serious financial investment. But it is one that could provide the Villans with a world-class attacking spark for years to come.
