- Ezri Konsa has revealed Prince William labelled him a “Rolls-Royce” which is the best piece of praise he has ever received
- William is well-known for his affinity with Aston Villa, supporting them since his school years
- Several times has he been pictured attending games to cheer them on
Ezri Konsa has been at the heart of Aston Villa’s defence for the last seven seasons. Through that time, he has become one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, earning him high praise. But nothing as big as Prince William calling him a “Rolls-Royce.”
The future king of England has been well documented for his support for Villa. Beginning his love for the club at school, he has gradually grown more and more connected.
Over the years, he has been pictured at Villa Park celebrating goals in the directors’ box across numerous matches. Some of them include the Champions League quarter-final against PSG and, recently, the second leg of the Europa League semi-final against Nottingham Forest.
On Wednesday night, the Villans will embark on their first European final in 44 years. A match that could write a new chapter in their history, and one that Prince William will no doubt attend to cheer his team on.
Ahead of the final, Konsa discussed William’s passion for the club and how much his support means to the players, as well as receiving a significant bit of praise.
On Prince William support
“It’s weird because on game day, when he comes in, you focus on the game and you’re in the moment, and you don’t realise how big it is that he is coming in to greet everyone and shake his hand.
“Sometimes you get caught up in the moment, and you go home and think, ‘flippin’ hell, I just shook his hand, and he knows my name and everything’. Having his support is brilliant, not just for the club but for the players as well.
“Some of the players didn’t know who he was beforehand, as they are from different countries, so for them to learn about him and know who he is, it is big. Hopefully, he will be there on Wednesday.
“Ever since I joined, he has shown unreal support, coming into the changing room and showing us the utmost respect. Massive credit to him to come and watch us and support us.
“I don’t know much about his football knowledge, but he has called me a Rolls-Royce once though! I’ll take that. That got stuck in my head. It’s nice. Credit to him.”
