Villa may need to improve their form against London teams to survive

As reported on BBC Sport, Aston Villa are without a victory in their last ten Premier League matches against sides from London.

Their last win against London opposition came against Crystal Palace in January 2016 when a Wayne Hennessey own goal secured the victory.

Since then, the team from the Midlands have lost nine and drawn once against teams in the top-flight from the capital and we believe that needs to change quickly.

Between now and the end of the season, Dean Smith’s side will face four more London opponents. Therefore, getting a positive result in any of them matches could prove to be crucial in their quest for survival.

The team’s final two matches of the season come against London opposition, Arsenal and West Ham United, and with the team being just one point above the relegation zone, them matches could ultimately decide Villa’s fate.

Even when they’re playing at Villa Park, there’s something about the London opponents that Villa can’t seem to overcome, as seen in last Sunday’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, but if they want to survive, they may have to break this run to earn some crucial points as the relegation battle starts to heat up.
