The winners and losers in Aston Villa’s deal for Marvelous Nakamba

Aston Villa fans were treated to another exciting piece of transfer news on Thursday as the club completed their second signing of the day.

Holding midfielder Marvelous Nakamba became the club’s 12th summer signing, hours after goalkeeper Tom Heaton made the move to the Midlands from Burnley.

The Zimbabwe international officially joined on an undisclosed fee from Belgian outfit Club Brugge, with reports suggesting the 24-year-old will cost £11 million.

If the reported fee is correct, Villa’s summer spending will have edged past £120 million, with Dean Smith reshaping his squad massively ahead of the club’s top-flight return.

Nakamba recently represented his country at the Africa Cup of Nations as Zimbabwe, unfortunately, exited at the group stages.

The player will now link up with his new Villa teammates ahead of the new season and could be in contention to make a first start against Tottenham Hotspur in nine days time.

However, before then, we’ve decided to take a look at four winners and four losers, as a result, of the completed deal.
