Villa to return with second Heaton offer

Aston Villa will reportedly increase their offer to sign Tom Heaton from Burnley.

According to claims from Football Insider, Dean Smith has given the go-ahead for the club to make a second bid for the England international.

Villa are in the market for a new first-choice goalkeeper this summer, and as such, it seems Heaton has emerged as a top target for the club upon their return to the Premier League.

The experienced shot-stopper is believed to have rejected a contract offer from Burnley earlier on in the summer as he pursues a fresh challenge elsewhere.

Football Insider reports that the Clarets are demanding £12 million for Heaton, and while Villa are unwilling to meet this valuation, they will significantly increase their initial proposal of just £4 million.

Jed Steer was handed a new deal following his efforts in the Championship last season, but Smith is determined to continue the flow of summer arrivals with the acquisition of an established goalkeeper.

Heaton, as per the report, is keen on the prospect of moving to Villa Park.
