Marvelous Nakamba goes AWOL in attempt to force move to Aston Villa

Club Brugge midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has gone AWOL in an attempt to force through a move to Aston Villa, according to a report from Le Soir, as translated by Sport Witness.

According to the report, Aston Villa made a €10m bid for the Zimbabwean star but it was not accepted by Club Brugge.

The player was apparently told that he’d be allowed to leave the Belgian side if a good offer came in for him and as such, he wants his club to accept Villa’s bid and thus let him leave.

Villa have already signed Wesley Moraes from Brugge this summer in what appeared to be a more straight-forward deal but it looks like this potential transfer could be a bit more complicated.

Le Soir report that Villa are unhappy with Brugge as they keep moving the goalposts in terms of a fee for Nakamba.

Whether the player going AWOL makes a difference to their stance remains to be seen.
