Villa keen on deal for Jay Rodriguez

Aston Villa are interested in a deal to sign West Brom centre-forward Jay Rodriguez this summer.

According to The Mirror, Villa have been alerted to his situation at West Brom, with a clause in his contract allowing him to leave the club for an initial fee of £5m.

The report claims that Rodriguez agreed with West Brom that a fee of £5m would be enough for him to exit The Hawthorns this summer. However, it also includes an additional payment of £5m next summer. This means that a deal for any potential suitor would eventually come in at £10m.

Villa are said to be keen on Rodriguez, along with Norwich, Leicester and Sheffield United as all four sides look to strengthen their squads ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

Rodriguez is in-demand following an impressive year in the Championship with the Baggies. The English forward netted 22 times in the league for West Brom.
