Aston Villa’s play-off triumph over Derby in pictures

Aston Villa beat Derby County 2-1 at Wembley in the Championship play-off final on Monday.

Villa have now booked their place in the Premier League for next season, where they will join the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool once again.

The club have spent the last three seasons in the Championship and almost secured promotion last season, only to lose 1-0 to Fulham – Tom Cairney scoring the winner – in the final a year ago.

However, Dean Smith took charge of the club towards the start of this season and managed to turn things around – leading his boyhood club back to the top-tier of English football.

Anwar El Ghazi and an own goal from Derby’s goalkeeper gave Villa a 2-0 lead, with Jack Marriott pulling one back in the 80th minute for Frank Lampard’s side.

We have decided to go back and look at some of the best images from the day…
