McGinn nominated for Championship Player of the Month award

Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn has been nominated for the Championship Player of the Month award.

McGinn is up for the award alongside Norwich’s Emi Buendia, Leeds duo Luke Ayling and Pablo Hernandez, Sheffield United’s Jack O’Connell and Rotherham’s Semi Ajayi.

The Scottish midfielder was excellent in March as Villa won all four of their Championship fixtures, beating Birmingham, Nottingham Forest, Blackburn and Middlesbrough.

McGinn scored twice against Forest, once against Middlesbrough and picked up assists against Blackburn and Boro.

The Villa star will be hoping to pick up his first Player of the Month award this season, having been impressive throughout the year since signing for the club last summer.

He has also had a great start to April, scoring in the 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday last weekend to keep Villa in the top six heading into the final six games of the season.
