As loan deals go, Tom Carroll’s switch to Aston Villa has been a bit of a disaster.
The 26-year-old joined Villa from Swansea City back in January but after making just two appearances for the club, his season is over due to an ongoing hip issue.
Having struggled with the hip problem for much of the season, the BBC report that a decision has been made for the former Tottenham star to have surgery and as such, he will not be available to Villa for the rest of the campaign.

Villa knew the risk of taking Carroll on loan just prior to the January window closing as he’d only been able to play 13 times for Swansea in the first half of the season due to the hip issue, but they took the chance regardless.
Carroll will no focus his efforts on getting fit for the start of next season, whether he’ll start that season as Swansea, Villa or somewhere else remains to be seen.
