Angers hopeful over Kodjia loan deal

Angers remain optimistic about a deal to sign Jonathan Kodjia on loan from Aston Villa today, according to claims from GFFN.

The Ligue 1 club were linked with a swoop for the Ivorian forward, whose future at Villa Park has come under scrutiny of late.

Dean Smith has already seen one forward depart the club on a temporary basis towards the end of the January transfer window, with Scott Hogan having completed a short-term switch to Sheffield United.

Kodjia could follow him out of the door, it seems, with GFFN stating that the 29-year-old is more than open to the prospect of completing a last-minute switch to France.

The striker remains an integral part of the Villa squad and has enjoyed an involved role this season.

He has started 17 games in the Championship this term and has made a further 10 appearances from the bench.

However, Kodjia has failed to convince in front of goal and has contributed with only six strikes for Smith’s side.
