Aston Villa make enquiry about Darius Olaru

Aston Villa have reportedly had conversations with the agent of Romanian forward Darius Olaru about a possible transfer.

Speaking to Gazeta Sporturilor, Olaru’s agent Arcadie Zaporojanu claimed to have been in contact with officials at Aston Villa, who wanted more information about his client.

He said:

I was in England. I gave Aston Villa a few references about him, figures and everything they needed. So far they have not made an official offer to Gaz Metan. They want to get as much information, see matches with him and make a clear idea.

The 20-year-old is on the books of Romanian club Gaz Metan but is seemingly open to a move. However, his agent also claimed that Borussia Dortmund are interested in his services too, which could impact Villa’s chances of signing him.

Dean Smith has a track record of working with young players and it would make sense for him to add some more youthful players to his squad as he looks to secure his side a place in the playoffs.

Villa are currently five points behind sixth-placed Derby County and they’ll be looking to close that gap between now and the end of the season.
