Chester limps off during Wales duty

Aston Villa defender James Chester was forced off injured during international duty with Wales.

The 29-year old was playing for the Dragons against Denmark in a UEFA Nations League tie before he hobbled off in the second half.

Chester’s injury represents the third injury for Aston Villa, following John McGinn and Neil Taylor, ahead of the Second City derby against Birmingham City next Sunday.

The Villans haven’t yet discovered the extent of the injury, but they will be eager to find out soon, with the club currently short on centre-back options.

Since Dean Smith succeeded Steve Bruce as manager, Chester has partnered Axel Tuanzebe for every minute of his tenure.

Mile Jedinak and Alan Hutton are other options to play at centre-half, but as neither are natural to the position, Smith will be hoping Chester can shake off his knock fairly quickly.
