Rui Faria needs to be given time

Such is the competitive nature of the Championship, Aston Villa sit in 16th place in the table, but they are just four points off the playoff places.

A new manager is set to take over following Steve Bruce’s sacking but there won’t be too much time for him to bed in.

Villa’s aim is to get back to the Premier League as soon as possible and in such a competitive division, a poor few results could see them fall too far behind the pack.

However, patience is very much needed from Aston Villa’s fans and board as the club has had far too much change in recent years.

At the time of writing, Rui Faria is rumoured to be the man who is about to be named as the club’s latest manager, with former player John Terry coming in as his assistant.

Those who want to predict how the duo will do in their initial games can take a look at some free bet UK offers.

Faria is best known for being Jose Mourinho’s assistant at the likes of Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United but it looks like he’s about to get his first taste of being the main man, rather than the number two.

We’ve seen in the past that some ex-assistants, such as Sammy Lee and Mike Phelan, have struggled to adapt to becoming the man in charge and there is every chance that Faria could have some initial teething problems.

If that is the case, those around the club will need to stay patient and back the man who they’ve brought in.

Villa fans might not like to hear this but the poor start to the season under Bruce may have given them too much to do in terms of a promotion push this season. Of course, they’ll want Faria to hit the ground running, but if he doesn’t, they must give him time as the club cannot afford any more instability.
