Aston Villa linked with a move for Julio Tavares

Aston Villa are reportedly keen to pip Norwich City to the signing of Dijon attacker Julio Tavares.

According to claims from HITC Sport, Steve Bruce’s side have expressed an interest in making a move for the experienced forward as they look to further bolster their attacking ranks.

Tavares is an established Cape Verde international and remains a key player for Ligue 1 outfit Dijon. However, a move to the Championship could be of interest to the player, as Villa and Norwich circle.

HITC’s report indicates that the Canaries are currently at the front of the queue in the race to secure Tavares’ services, with a loan deal on the cards before the end of the month.

The 29-year-old found the net on 12 occasions for Dijon last season and has picked up where he left off in the new campaign.

Tavares has scored three goals in two games so far this season and has evidently caught the eye of a number of clubs with his displays up top.

After reportedly seeing a permanent deal fall through midway through the month, it’s claimed by HITC that Bruce and his side are making efforts to land Tavares on a temporary basis.
