Aston Villa midfielder Carles Gil to trigger bidding war

Wantaway Aston Villa midfielder Carles Gil is set to trigger a bidding war in the coming weeks with both Real Betis and Deportivo La Coruna chasing his signature, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Aston Villa are willing to sell the 24-year-old Spaniard with both La Liga clubs said to be preparing bids for his services.

It is believed that Gil would prefer a permanent move to Deportivo La Coruna after spending last season on loan at the club, however Real Betis are said to be desperate to sign the player.

Gil scored just once in 24 appearances for Deportivo last season but he has done enough to convince Deportivo Boss Pepe Mel to pursue a permanent transfer.

Pepe Mel has made a permanent deal for Gil one of his top priorities this summer and Gil is hoping to seal a move away from Villa Park before Villa report back for pre-season training at the beginning of next month.

Aston Villa paid Valencia just over £3million for Gil two and a half years ago and they will be hoping to recoup most of that money in a deal for him this summer.
