Southampton striker Sam Gallagher could be high in demand this summer, and Aston Villa have been named as the latest club to join the chase for him.

According to a report from the Daily Mail today, Villa and two other Championship sides are contemplating a move for the young forward after his impressive form at Blackburn Rovers this season hasn’t gone unnoticed.

It’s stated that Villa, Wolves and Cardiff are interested in keeping Gallagher in the Championship beyond this season, with all three keen to bolster their attacking options, along with Sunderland as they prepare for life in the second tier.

Gallagher has netted 12 goals for Blackburn this season; a highly impressive tally given that Tony Mowbray’s side have been in considerably poor form all season.

The 21-year-old has shown his quality this season and may be looking to find his way back into the first-team picture at St Mary’s ahead of the coming season, but it’s clear to see that he won’t be short of potential suitors come July and Villa may fancy their chances.
