Villa show interest in signing Turkish international

Aston Villa are one of the many clubs interested in signing Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup, according to a report from Turkish news outlet CNN TURK.

The 24-year-old was born in the Netherlands and represented them at the U19 level before switching his allegiances to Turkey, for whom he is now a full international.

According to the report, 15 clubs sent scouts to watch the midfielder in action when Besiktas faced Lyon in the Europa League and Villa were one of those clubs.

Ozyakup is no stranger to England having been on the books of Arsenal at a young age. However, he never quite made the grade for the Gunners and he eventually left for Turkey.

He’s played over 170 games for Besiktas since his arrival there but it looks like he could be on the move and Steve Bruce, or at least some of his recruitment staff, seemingly have an interest in signing him.
