Aston Villa right-back Alan Hutton has triggered an extension clause in his current contract at the club.
According to a report from the Express and Star today, the Scottish defender has taken up the option to extend his stay at Villa Park until the summer of 2018 at least.
Hutton’s deal with the club was due to expire in just a few months at the end of the season, but it looks now as though he is happy with his role at Villa and is set to stay for the foreseeable future.

The experienced right-back has played 26 times for Villa in the Championship this season and will now look to help them consolidate their position in the league after a torrid season so far.
Steve Bruce’s side currently find themselves sat in 15th place of the Championship table, but are nine points adrift of the relegation zone.
Hutton has been with Villa since 2011.
